Since childhood, Gregory has explored the world sketching and painting above and below the sea. Swimming, surfing and diving, he cherishes the feeling of floating in the sea as the undulating waves rise and fall before spilling onto some sandy beach or rocky shelf. This painting reimagines what swaying with the currents feels like.

About Gregory Burns
Gregory Burns’ passion for art began as a boy growing up in Paris where he created comic strips and painted bottles of Beaujolais. During his first university art class, he knew he had found his calling when he was confronted with the nude. He slipped into the fabric of Asia in 1984 and studied Chinese brush painting and calligraphy with local masters for two years.
He then began a summer backpacking trip through China, Tibet, Nepal, India and Pakistan and his artwork began referencing the different religious and architectural imagery of Asia. Since completing his Master of Fine Art from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1999, the intrepid traveller continues to portray the power of the human spirit in his artworks.
As an internationally recognised artist who has been featured on BBC, CNBC, ESPN, CNA, CCTV, Time Magazine and The China Daily, Gregory has held over 80 solo and group exhibitions in a dozen countries.
