A slice of apple pie becomes the focal point in Yao Qing’s vivid composition, surrounded by fields of organic shapes and shifting colour. Inspired by murals and cross-sections of fruit, the artist layers patterns with subtle tonal gradients and saturated hues. The result is a playful tension between figure and ground, where familiar forms dissolve into rhythmic abstraction.
