by artist Chang Kim Ngoh

This evocative work celebrates the rich intersection of Chinese and Peranakan traditions. Part of a series capturing the preparation of rice dumplings for the Dumpling Festival, Making Dumplings highlights the care, effort, and communal spirit behind this age-old ritual. Through delicate brushwork and attention to everyday gestures, Chang Kim Nghoh transforms the labour of making dumplings into a visual narrative that honors cultural heritage, family bonds, and the beauty found in shared traditions.
